Backup & Export

Backup and export is found in the main Settings menu at the bottom of the main workout screen.

Sync Backup Data to iCloud Drive

This exports a backup database file to iCloud Drive. You will need to be signed in to your phone with an apple account.

Export Backup Data by Email

This exports a backup database file as an email attachment. You will need to have an email account or service set up on your phone.

Automatically Backup to iCloud

If on, the app will create backups automatically in the background and save them to iCloud Drive in a FitNotes/Autobackup folder.

Automatic Backup Schedule

The frequency to make automatic backups, e.g. Daily, Weekly, Monthly

Note: The app can only check to make backups when it is used. If you don’t use the app for a long time, it won’t take backups.

Max Backups

The maximum number of automatic backups to keep. Enter 0 for unlimited backups. The oldest backup will be deleted to keep to the maximum number.

Restore

This shows a list of backup files found in iCloud Drive.

If it has a cloud download icon after the backup name, that means that the file is only in iCloud and not in your phone, and it will have to download it first to continue, so if you do not have an internet connection then you cannot restore that backup.

If you want to delete these backup files, use the Files app in your phone, that is where they are stored.

Import Data From FitNotes Android

This opens the import instructions.

Export CSV

You can export a CSV of your workout data or body tracker data to iCloud Drive or as an email attachment.

Note that you need to be signed in to your phone with an Apple account to use iCloud Drive, and you need an email account setup on your phone to send email.

Export Android DB

You can export a copy of your data in the FitNotes Android DB format, if you wish to switch to Android.

Note that some settings are specific to one app and can’t transfer. Some workout data cannot transfer either, specifically:

  • Exercises that have more than 2 “kinds” (weight, reps, time, distance) cannot be exported to Android. Android FitNotes only supports 1 or 2 “kinds” per exercise.

You can export this database file to iCloud Drive or as an email attachment.

Note that you need to be signed in to your phone with an Apple account to use iCloud Drive, and you need an email account setup on your phone to send email.
